Planting Seeds: Direct Seed or Transplant?

Seeding Methods

When planting seeds, there are two main seeding methods: one where the seeds are planted directly where the plant will grow all the way until you harvest it -- we call this direct seeding -- and one where you start the baby seedling off in one location, and transplant the young plant to its final spot when it's a little older -- referred to simply as transplanting. Some plants demand one method over another, and some can be successful using either method. Here are some common crops we grow at CCUA, and how we start them:
