Produce Prescription is a pilot collaboration between CCUA, Compass Health Network, and Columbia Farmers Market. Through the program, healthcare providers at Compass Health Network can prescribe a “dose” of fresh fruits and vegetables to current patients who live in Boone County and have children 19 and younger living in their household.
Starting on Jan 11, Produce Prescription Program will be administered by Columbia Farmers Market! CCUA, in collaboration with Columbia Farmers Market and Compass Health, launched the program in 2021 and has administered the grant from 2021-2024. Now, CFM will be managing the grant due to their expanded capacity. CCUA has been honored to help pilot the program and can't wait to see where CFM will take it!
“By providing this [prescription] card to my family, we were able to get more vegetables for our household. I was able to actually venture out and try vegetables that I wouldn’t have picked up before because I didn’t have the extra funds to spend on something my kids might not like. “Might” is a big shot in the dark when referring to funds and food. That is not a chance I was willing to take previously.”
