Empty Bowls 2019
You are invited to a community meal on Friday, March 15th at the Agriculture Park’s MU Health Care Pavilion!
Join us for a FREE meal of soup and bread. Handcrafted bowls from Access Arts, MU Clay Club, State Fair Community College, and Locust Street Expressive Arts Elementary School can be purhased to support CCUA’s Planting for the Pantry Program. Donations made to Planting for the Pantry ensure that fresh local food from the Urban Farm is distributed to local food pantries, as well as support CCUA’s garden education programming. Attendees at Empty Bowls can take home handmade bowls for a suggested $5-20 donation.
Lunch will be served from 11am – 1pm with soup provided by Glenns Cafe.
Dinner will be served from 4pm – 7pm with soup provided by Columbia Area Career Center.
Bread will be provided by Fresh Ideas.
Want to make bowls with friends?
Your group of 10-20 people can schedule a time to make clay bowls in the Ceramic studio at Access Arts. Bowl-making sessions are available in January and February, and take about 90 minutes to complete. Participants are asked to pay $5 per bowl to cover the material costs. After you make your bowl, Access Arts’ staff and volunteers will fire, glaze, and re-fire the bowls in the lead up to the event. Your bowl will then be sold at the March 15th Empty Bowls event, with proceeds benefiting the Planting for the Pantry Program.
